Add Google Apps DNS Records To Domain On Plesk From Command Line

Here’s the command line steps to add Google Apps to a domain under Plesk:


/usr/local/psa/bin/dns --add acme.com -mx '' -mailexchanger ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.com -priority 10
/usr/local/psa/bin/dns --add acme.com -mx '' -mailexchanger ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.com -priority 20
/usr/local/psa/bin/dns --add acme.com -mx '' -mailexchanger ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.com -priority 20
/usr/local/psa/bin/dns --add acme.com -mx '' -mailexchanger ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.com. -priority 30
/usr/local/psa/bin/dns --add acme.com -mx '' -mailexchanger ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.com. -priority 30
/usr/local/psa/bin/dns --add acme.com -cname 'mail' -canonical ghs.google.com.

Block PHP Execution With .htaccess In Folder

For a server using Plesk add the following lines to a .htaccess file to stop execution of PHP scripts in the folder:


RemoveHandler .php .phtml .php3
RemoveType .php .phtml .php3
php_flag engine off

RemoveHandler .php .phtml .php3

RemoveType .php .phtml .php3

php_flag engine off

I like to use this to protect cache and image upload folders that are writable by the web server but should not be able to execute code. As a further precaution, chown the .htaccess to root, so it can’t be overwritten by Apache or FTP, and “chattr +i” to be sure about it.

Plesk – Change Admin Password From Command Line

Here’s a simple command to change the Plesk admin password from the command line:


export PSA_PASSWORD=<NEW_PASSWORD>
 /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/ch_admin_passwd

export PSA_PASSWORD=<NEW_PASSWORD>

/usr/local/psa/admin/bin/ch_admin_passwd

Rebuild Plesk Apache Config Files

WordPress URL Rewrites On Plesk 10 Windows

We needed to get URL rewrites working on a Plesk 10 Windows server for a client wanting friendly URLs in WordPress. Turned out to be pretty easy …. 1. Make sure the Microsoft IIS URL Rewrite 2 extension is installed. You can find it here: http://www.iis.net/download/URLRewrite 2. Create a web.config file in the folder where you have WordPress installed with the following:
